Design Studio ‘Reflexiones en torno al patio en la arquitectura’ (4th year, semester optional subject), taught during the academic years 2006-2007, 2007-2008, 2008-2009, and 2009-2010 at the School of Architecture of the Universitat Politècnica de València.
The course aimed to reflect on courtyards as a specific element in the architectural design. This mechanism of generation of voids was the germ of many projects throughout the history and evolution of architecture. The courtyard has the ability to take different forms and roles, and provides a special system of appropriation of space, and the consequent creation of a place.
