@Teaching_Architecture_Studio is my new Instagram account, focused on disseminating the learning of architectural design. Here I will collect everything that makes up such a specific learning environment as the ‘studio‘ (‘taller‘ in Spanish, ‘atelier‘ in French). Learning activities can be very varied (seminars, lectures, visits to buildings or study trips), but mostly, students do a Project exercise developed through critique sessions of individual assignments. A dialogue between student and tutor is conducted during these sessions, and active participation from classmates is expected. Group conversation is diverse and often skips from specific topics to more general reflections. The material for supporting the ‘crits’ is provided by the student (drawings, models), which might be completed with additional improvised sketches or schemes from those who express comments. Consequently, the classroom climate is decisive in ensuring an environment conducive to learning.
