Débora Domingo-Calabuig graduated in architecture after studies in the School of Architecture of Valencia (Spain) and l’École d’Architecture de Paris-La Défense (France). With a specialised degree in Building Construction, she has practised architecture for many years, achieving critical recognition for her built projects and award competitions. In 2005 she obtained her doctorate at Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV).

She joined the Department of Architectural Design at UPV as an assistant professor in 2000 and is currently a full professor. She has taught design studios at all undergraduate and postgraduate year levels, also been responsible for seminars and specialised workshops. She supervises PhD research theses and other research dissertations assiduously. She is fluent in Spanish, Catalan, French, and English. She held the Assistant Director for Research position from 2012 to 2016 and was Editor in Chief of the “VLC arquitectura” Research Journal from its launch to 2018. She is also a Research Academy member of the European Association for Architectural Education. Recipient of the 2020 edition of the Lilly Reich Grant for equality in architecture, with Laura Lizondo-Sevilla and Avelina Prat-García.

Her interests include the methods, means, and impact of architectural research. Her research focuses on the social consideration in architecture and urban design, particularly in the Western-European post-war contexts of the 60s and 70s, concerning changes in higher education and new campus planning.

She is currently vice-rector for Sustainable Development of the Campus at the Universitat Politècnica de València. The functions of her office include planning and launching the university’s ecological transition project to achieve carbon neutrality, implementing actions for sustainability in the university spaces, and disseminating a culture of environmental awareness.
