Laura Lizondo and I have been invited to the Lilly Reich event that will take place this evening (5:30 pm GMT-6) at the Mies van der Rohe Society, and organized in partnership with Illinois Tech’s College of Architecture.
‘Interiors: Lilly Reich and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe‘ is intended ‘to bring you through the lens of acclaimed filmmaker, June Finfer, alumna. You will experience actual footage of the Tugendhat House and hear about it first hand from our presenters, art historian Daniela Tugendhat and her husband, preservationist Ivo Hammer, who are currently working to maintain and share one of the most influential homes of the 20th century. Hear about the dynamic collaborative effort between Mies and Lilly Reich to make Tugendhat House, in the words of Daniela Tugendhat and Ivo Hammer, “Mies’s finest residential project.” In addition to the commentators featured above, hear from Jong Soung Kimm (ARCH ’61, M.S. ‘64); Dirk Lohan, alumnus; Reed Kroloff, dean; Martin Felsen, Masters of Architecture program director; and Michelangelo Sabatino, professor, College of Architecture, IIT.’
From our side, we will be contributing to this event by briefly presenting the Lilly Reich Grant on Equality in Architecture awarded by the Fundació Mies van der Rohe Barcelona.
