Starting from the panoramic vision that Alexander Purves drew in his article ‘The Persistence of Formal Patterns’ (Perspecta, 1982), this lecture focus on understanding the architectural project as a formal construction mechanism that develops through organizational patterns which are determined by material and constructive decisions. Growth, flexibility, combinatorics, relational program, aggregation, modular order … are, among others, the terms that could describe the type of building that is being analyzed.
